Why you will keep it

Everything a breathing app should be, and nothing it should not.

Most wellness apps want your inbox, your habits and a monthly fee. BreathEase just wants to help you breathe.

Private by design

Your sessions, logs and custom patterns stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account to create.

Works fully offline

On a plane, in a basement, on airplane mode. Once installed, BreathEase needs no connection to guide a session.

Every device, one rhythm

Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and the browser. The same calm experience follows you from desk to pocket.

Yours, not rented

The core app is free, with no paywalled breathing and no ads interrupting a session. Support it only if you want to.

Real techniques, gently guided

Pick a method. The orb does the counting.

Each technique animates the breathing orb through its own rhythm, with optional sound and haptic cues. Tap one to preview it in the app screen above.

Not sure where to start? Tell the orb how you want to feel and it picks a fitting technique with a matching sound.

Calm & sleep

Focus & balance

Energy

Every one of these is a real, guided rhythm. Want something else? Build your own inhale, hold and exhale in the app's pattern editor.

The deep end

And then there is breathwork.

The methods above are paced patterns you can count. "Breathwork" usually means something different: conscious connected breathing — a continuous, circular breath with no pause between the inhale and the exhale, kept up for minutes at a time. It can stir up strong physical sensations and emotions, and that is rather the point.

Intense breathwork is not for everyone. Skip it during pregnancy, or with cardiovascular, respiratory, seizure or serious mental-health conditions, and stop the moment you feel faint. It is a wellbeing practice, not medical treatment.

  • Connected and circular The inhale flows straight into the exhale, and the exhale straight into the next inhale. No holds, no gaps.
  • Longer by design A full session runs many minutes. The taste here is a short, gentle sample of the rhythm, not the whole journey.
  • Sit or lie down first Because it can leave you light-headed, only do it somewhere safe and still — never while driving, standing, or up high.

Why it works

Your breath is a remote control for your nervous system.

Breathing is the one part of the autonomic nervous system you can take over on purpose. Slow it down and lengthen the exhale, and the body reads it as safety. Speed it up and it reads it as readiness. That single lever sits behind every technique here.

Read the science
  • A longer exhale calms A slow, extended out-breath engages the vagus nerve and tips you toward the parasympathetic "rest and digest" state.
  • About six breaths a minute Breathing near this pace lines heart rate up with the breath, which is what coherence and HRV work are after.
  • Faster breath, more alert Quick, fuller breathing raises arousal on purpose, which is why Wim Hof and Bhastrika feel energizing.

Inside the app

Small details that make a session feel effortless.

Visual, sound & haptics

Follow the breathing orb, a soft tone, a gentle buzz, or all three. Turn off what you do not need.

Build your own pattern

The custom pattern editor lets you set any inhale, hold and exhale you like, then save it beside the built-ins.

Session history

Every completed and paused session is logged locally so you can see your streak without a scoreboard shouting at you.

Ambient soundscapes

Layer calm background sound under a session, or keep it silent. Your choice, mixed on your device.

Light & dark

A daytime calm and a night mode built for the last session before bed.

English & Deutsch

Fully translated, so the cues read naturally in your language.

The signature program

RAK-IT-IN: seven cues, one complete return.

RAK-IT-IN is the guided sequence woven through BreathEase. Seven memorable words carry you from tension to arrival, so calm is a path you can repeat rather than a technique you have to remember. Tap a step to see it in the app.

For wellbeing support only. BreathEase is not medical or psychotherapeutic treatment and does not replace professional care.
